Research Strategy Tips
Always aim for Eurekas: A 50% discount on every tech/civic adds up enormously. Plan 2-3 turns ahead to trigger boosts before researching.
Beeline key techs: You don't need to research everything in order. Focus on the techs that unlock your victory condition or critical military upgrades.
Campus placement: Adjacent to 2+ mountains = +4 science minimum. Build Campuses early in every city for passive science generation.
Theatre Square for civics: Culture accelerates civic research. Even non-culture players should build Theatre Squares for faster policy unlocks.
Great Scientists: Some Great Scientists provide free tech boosts or instant research completion. Prioritize these in late game for space race techs.
Era Score & Research

Golden Age bonus: In a Golden Age, your cities gain +10% science/culture. Time your research of critical techs during Golden Ages for maximum efficiency.

Overflow research: If you finish a tech with excess science, the overflow carries to the next. Switching to a nearly-complete tech wastes less overflow.

Tech trading (GS): In Gathering Storm, you can trade diplomatic favor for techs via the World Congress. Late-game this can skip expensive technologies.
